The Office of the Director of Human Resources Directorate is responsible for the management and development of the Human Resources at Makerere University. The directorate is headed by Mrs. Mary Tizikara.

The Directorate is comprised of four Divisions namely: Employment, Performance and Appraisal, Stafff Training and Development, and Records & Information

Employment Division provides the Secretariat to the Appointments Board Committee of Council and Sub-Committees of Appointments Board. It handles matters related to appointments, promotions and discipline of all staff in the University.

Performance and Appraisal Division handles all matters related to employee performance and welfare. It also handles transfers and administrative appointments in liason with the office of the Vice Chancellor as need arises.

Staff Training and Benefits Division is the Secretariat to the Council Staff Development, Welfare and Retirements Benefits Committee. It handles all matters relating to training and development and staff benefits for all categories of staff in the University.

Records and Information Division handles all matters relating to personnel and general administrative records both manual and electronic forms and working with all units in the Directorate to utilize Information and Communication Technology for effective and efficient performance of the Directorate’s activities.
