The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is responsible for the academic affairs of the university. As such, they oversee programmes and policies that promote academic excellence in the University; ensure quality of academic programmes; oversee proper planning and coordination of undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes; coordinate curriculum development; and ensure optimal utilization of teaching, research and library facilities. The DVC Academic Affairs monitors the Colleges/Faculties/Institutes/Schools, the graduate School, the University Library and the Department of the Academic Registrar.

Terms of Reference

Part VIII Section 32 of The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, Act 6 of 2001, states that the First Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC for Academic Affairs) shall:

(1) Assist the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of his or her functions and in that regard be responsible for the Academic affairs of the university.

(2) in the absence of the Vice-Chancellor perform the functions of the Vice-Chancellor.
