Prof. Bernard Bashaasha
Prof. Bernard Bashaasha is a Professor of Agricultural Economics and Principal, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), Makerere University. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Development Economics and an MA in Economics both from the Ohio State University, USA. He also holds an MSc in Agricultural Economics from Seoul National University, South Korea and a BSc. Agriculture degree from Makerere University.
He has previously served as an Advisor (until September 2010) on Agriculture and Markets to the World Food Program (WFP) Country Director in Uganda, on various government committees and is the current Board Chairman of Appropriate Technology Uganda (ATU) Ltd, a development NGO.
Prof. Bashaasha serves as the Interim Director of the Agricultural Policy Research Centre, CAES and is a member of University Senate and Chair of various College Boards and Committees. Prof. Bashaasha currently teaches both graduate and undergraduate level courses and has been a guest Lecturer in Agricultural and Development Economics at the African Economic Research Consortium in Nairobi. He is widely published and has supervised over 50 M.Sc and 5 Ph.D students to completion.
